The term in-bailiwick means that nameservers for a domain is in the same domain (within the domain).
ie domain.com nameserver is ns.domain.com not ns.domain.net nor ns.otherdomain.org (glued delegation)
The term out-of-bailiwick means that nameservers for a domain is not in the same domain.
ie domain.com nameserver is ns.domain.net or ns.otherdomain.org etc.. (glueless delegation)
Glued delegations (good) are where a parent server (registry) knows, and gives you,
the IP address of the child server: for example, the .com registry server says
that the .domain.com nameserver (ns.domain.com) is at IP address 1.2.3.4
Glueless delegations (bad) are, where a parent server (tld registries) doesn’t give you
the IP address of the child server. It gives you a name that you have to
look up yourself.
